History Local Study

Overview

The seven primary schools in Formby have created a scheme of work for a local history study. This is a six-lesson scheme of work for a key stage 2 class and covers a number of historical events in the Formby area.

This scheme of work can be used in 3 ways:

  1. A six week scheme of work for a KS2 class.

  2. Individual lessons can be used in history topics to include the local aspect.

  3. Whole school themed week

The aim of the project

The aim of the project is to create a large-scale timeline of significant events in Formby history linked to the development of transport. The timeline will be a working document recorded on a large sheet of wallpaper. Children will investigate significant events in Formby's history and investigate chronology, cause and consequence and significance.  Once the timeline is complete, the children will look at change and continuity over time and rate significant events.

National Curriculum Coverage
